The plain-language rules for using VotersDesk. Questions? Email editorial@votersdesk.com.ng.
These terms apply to everyone who visits or uses VotersDesk, on the web or as an installed app. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
You may browse without an account. Discussions, polls and some saved features need one, and you must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
VotersDesk is an independent, non-partisan guide. We are not part of INEC, any government body or any political party. For registration, polling units, election dates and official results, INEC is always the final authority.
We work hard to be accurate and to show where every fact comes from, but candidate lists, court rulings and party decisions change. Check important details with the official source before you rely on them. Nothing on VotersDesk is advice on who to vote for.
Disagree as strongly as you like about ideas and records. You must not post or do anything that:
We may remove content, limit features, suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where we can, we tell you why and let you appeal by email.
VotersDesk polls count one vote per account and show only the views of VotersDesk users who chose to answer. They are not a scientific sample of Nigerian voters and must not be presented as one. If you share poll results, say they come from VotersDesk users.
The party match quiz compares your answers with positions parties gave or published. It is a reading aid, not a recommendation. Your quiz answers stay on your device.
When we summarise a news report, the summary is written by our editors and the original outlet, date and headline are always credited. Every story passes an editorial check before it is published, and the record of that check is kept. Names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners.
You are welcome to share our pages and share cards, provided the VotersDesk credit and the original source credit stay visible. Do not edit a share card to change its meaning, or remove the credits.
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you allow VotersDesk to display, store and moderate it on the service, and to keep a record of it for safety and legal reasons. You are responsible for what you post.
If something we published is wrong, use “Report an error” on the page or email editorial@votersdesk.com.ng. We review every report, and confirmed corrections are listed publicly on the corrections page. Candidates and parties can use the same route; they receive no special treatment.
We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. We collect only what we need to run the service: your account email and profile, what you post, your poll votes, and basic technical logs that keep the site secure.
Your quiz answers, voting plan and the states and candidates you choose to follow are stored on your own device unless you sign in and choose to save them to your account. We do not sell personal data and we never give sponsors access to it.
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing editorial@votersdesk.com.ng.
VotersDesk accepts support only from organisations that are not parties, candidates, aspirants or campaign groups. Sponsors are always named, and they have no say over what we publish or how candidates are shown. Read the full sponsorship policy.
VotersDesk is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from relying on information on the site without checking the official source, from content posted by users, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Nigerian consumer law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
We may update these terms as the service grows. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version, and we will flag significant changes on the site before they take effect.
